Available Australia-wide.

From a cup of tea in the garden to watching a match at the local sports club, our Visiting program is all about bringing people together to connect and share experiences.

When you sign up for the program, we’ll match you with a local Australian Red Cross volunteer with similar interests. They’ll come to visit you every week or fortnight. These visits can take place at home, in town, or at any other venue that suits you both.

Visiting options

How you spend your time with your Australian Red Cross visitor is up to you.

You can:

  • meet for a cup of tea at home or lunch in town
  • do some gardening or go for a walk
  • read together; play cards; or do a puzzle, crossword or sudoku
  • listen to music together
  • attend a community event or local sporting match.

Who is the program for?

The Visiting program is for anyone and everyone looking to connect with their local community and who is already registered for My Aged Care.

You might live alone or with a partner, at home or in an assisted living facility, be in good health or have limitations — no matter your life circumstances, this program is for you.

Why should you sign up?

Our relationships with others keep life vibrant. Meeting new people offers a wealth of opportunities for connection, kindness and shared life experiences. It’s also good for your health: social connection has been linked to better physical and emotional health outcomes.
