Government supporters and partner organisations

We receive government funding for much of our work both in Australia and internationally. This funding comes from all levels of government – federal, state and territory, and local – and from a number of departments and portfolios. We seek funding from governments on a strategic basis to support our planned activities.

We work closely with more than 10 Australian Government departments and agencies, and with many more at the state and territory level. We maintain engagement with parliamentarians in many ways, such as through the Parliamentary Friends of Australian Red Cross network, which includes more than 100 members of parliament who support and promote our work.

As well as engaging government stakeholders for support of our work, we seek to influence government policies through our expertise and experience, and to advocate for vulnerable people and communities in Australia and overseas. Following the Red Cross method of humanitarian diplomacy, these discussions are largely confidential.
