You let people know someone cared. And you made sure they didn’t have to face the hardest days of their life alone. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your generosity and everything you have done to help this past year.
Your generosity has helped prevent suffering. It protected people's dignity, ensured they felt stronger, and supported to start again. The world might not see the helpers behind the headlines, but we do. And we see you.
Thanks to supporters like you, we made a difference in someone’s life every 90 seconds in Australia last year ā

Joseph’s class took part in a Pillowcase workshop, a fun and interactive day where they decorated a pillowcase with their favourite things, and items they would need in an emergency - from food, water, medicine, blankets, and teddy bears. Through this exercise Joseph learned how to plan, stay calm, and gather essential supplies if needing to leave home in a hurry.
“Before Red Cross visited my school, I felt scared. But Red Cross taught me what to do in an emergency. Since doing the pillowcase workshop I felt more happy. My items in my pillowcase could help me in an emergency and when I tell my family about what to do with the Pillowcase it will help them too.“
Together, we can continue to provide children with the tools and confidence to cope in an emergency – thank you.
Thanks to support like yours, Joyleen can remain independent and connected to her community.
With her mobility decreasing, Joyleen found it harder to stay connected to her friends and community, which took a toll on her wellbeing.
Kimberley, a dedicated volunteer from the Australian Red Cross Volunteer Transport Service, noticed the impact on Joyleen. Now, through the Volunteer Visitors scheme, Kimberley visits regularly, helping Joyleen stay socially connected and maintain her independence.
With your continued support, people like Joyleen can remain engaged with their communities, with donor funds providing access to the training, transport and support that make these programs possible.
Joy has been a Red Cross Volunteer for over 70 years, travelling Australia at a moment’s notice to be there when disaster hits. Former nurse, Joy loves nothing more than caring for others. She regularly checks in on her elderly neighbours and is still there for disasters and emergencies, bringing her expertise and training to where it’s needed most. She knows how important it is to be a listening ear for people who are in distress. Sometimes, all that people want is a warm hug and Joy is always there.
Support from people like you ensures that our volunteers are trained to provide essential support before, during and after crises.
Offering comfort, safety and hope for people on the ground, your generosity is helping ensure that a helping hand is there for communities across Australia no matter what.
