Australian Red Cross is sending an additional support grant to people affected by floods in Queensland and New South Wales in February and March 2022.
The money represents $5.4 million remaining after other support has been delivered following the disaster.
“This will mean $80 will be automatically paid into the bank accounts of about 68,000 previous grant recipients between now and December,” Red Cross Director of State and Territory Operations Poppy Brown said.
“Grant recipients do not have to contact us or take any action – the money will automatically reach your bank account,” she said.
The payments are in addition to support provided through:
“We’re notifying recipients when a payment has been made,” Ms Brown said.
"Red Cross teams remain on the ground supporting people through our three-year recovery program. After offering extra payments to people in continued financial hardship, through our discretionary financial grants program, we have enough remaining to make a further payment to all eligible relief grant recipients to ensure funds go to where they are needed,” Ms Brown said.
