Enabling accessibility for the Deaf and hard-hearing community
Meet Tina, Australian Red Cross’ first-ever Auslan-signing digital human, created to make disaster preparedness more accessible for the Deaf and hard of hearing community.
Tina brings to life the newly updated Auslan version of the award-winning RediPlan - our free, easy-to-use guide full of practical tips and strategies to help you get prepared and create your emergency plan.
We have a range of resources to help you prepare for disasters, including information in Auslan and community languages, and resources for children and carers.
Pack your survival kit with our handy emergency checklist.
Developed by Australian Red Cross Humanitech in partnership with Kara Tech and co-designed with members of the Brisbane Deaf and hard-hearing community, this project supports greater inclusion in emergency preparedness.
Learn how we created the first Auslan-signing digital Australian Red Cross volunteer avatar, built a motion-captured Auslan database, and translated the RediPlan into Auslan.
With thanks to Australian Red Cross Humanitech’s scaling partner, QBE Foundation, and founding partner, Telstra Foundation, who have supported this program to improve and increase accessibility to the Red Cross RediPlan for the Deaf and hard of hearing community.
