In the world today, need never sleeps. Every minute of every day you could be helping people in crisis.
The people Red Cross help come from all walks of life; whether it's an Aussie kid going to school hungry, families protecting their homes from a bushfire, to isolated elderly Australians living alone. For just $1 a day you can help transform the lives of some of the most vulnerable people every minute of every day.
Daily phone calls
Now Maher is living alone, his daily call from Red Cross provides him with regular human contact and peace of mind that if something happened to him Red Cross would raise the alarm. When Maher's wife Margarite was still alive, their daily welfare phone call from Red Cross arrived just as they were facing a medical emergency, helping them to arrange an ambulance.
Red Cross provides free daily phone calls to check on the wellbeing of people who are at risk of an accident or illness that may go unnoticed. The calls provide reassurance as well as helping people to maintain their independence. Friendly Red Cross volunteers make calls each morning 365 days a year. If the call is not answered, Red Cross takes action to ensure everything is okay.
As soon as a disaster strikes Red Cross is there providing people with support in their journey of recovery.
When ever you see a Red Cross person in action you will know that your contribution has played an important role in activating a Red Cross emergency response.
Long after the emergency is over, Red Cross continue to help individuals and communities as they rebuild their lives. Last year alone, Red Cross helped over 56,000 people across the region affected by disaster.
Unsafe water along with poor sanitation are major preventable causes of death and disease in the world's poorest countries. Children are especially vulnerable - and every 20 seconds a child dies as a result of poor sanitation. That's a shocking 1.5 million preventable deaths a year.
Red Cross empowers communities across the Asia Pacific region to prevent needless deaths by improving water and sanitation systems.
As a regular monthly supporter, for just $1 a day, you will be helping vulnerable people throughout the region receive clean water and sanitation and reduce the devastating impact of waterborne diseases in these communities.
