Haiti Earthquake Appeal 2010

In the wake of the devastating Haiti earthquake, Australian Red Cross would like to thank everyone who contributed to the appeal.

Launched on 14 January 2010, the Haiti Earthquake Appeal 2010 raised more than $8.2 million.

The Haitian earthquake motivated one of the biggest disaster response operations in one country ever:

• more than 400,000 Haitians have received Red Cross relief supplies

• more than 80 national Red Cross societies have offered support to their Haitian sister society

• nearly 60 national Red Cross societies have deployed almost 1000 aid workers to Haiti, including Australian Red Cross.

Relief efforts continue in the capital of Port-au-Prince and other affected areas of Haiti, where Red Cross aid workers like Australian Christopher Cliffe help Haitians restore stability after the devastating earthquake of 12 January 2010.

Christopher Cliffe spent two weeks in Haiti as part of a Red Cross healthcare team. He talks about the experience, the tragedy and how Red Cross is helping.
