Red Cross Calling

Red Cross Calling on YOU!

Help us change lives for another 100 years.

Red Cross Calling
, now in it's 65th year, is a national fundraising campaign that happens every March. This year, join thousands of Red Cross members, supporters, schools, community groups, workplaces and individuals who will be out in force collecting valuable donations and holding events of their own to support our vital everyday work.

In 2014, Australian Red Cross is also celebrating 100 years of people helping people, so there has never been a more exciting time to get involved and make a difference.

How can you get involved?

Online

It's quick and easy to donate to Red Cross Calling online.

Red Cross Members

Members and Branches play a pivotal role in contributing funds every year to support our every day work. While 2014 will be a year to celebrate Centenary, we encourage you to continue to support Red Cross Calling, as funds raised during March will continue to enable Red Cross to deliver services where they are needed most.

If you are a Red Cross Member and would like to be part of Red Cross Calling, check with your local Branch to find out what that they may be planning.

If you don't know your local Branch, give the Red Cross Calling team a call on 1800 008 831 to discuss how you can get involved in your community.

Fundraising activities can be anything from a doorknock in your area to a shopping centre collection. Please contact the Red Cross Calling team on 1800 008 831 if you need assistance with permissions or permits.

We would love to hear what our members are doing to support Red Cross Calling, so please email us and we can list your activities on our events calendar.

Schools

Peter Wood, Year 10 coordinator at Melbourne High has been involved in Red Cross Calling for the past 17 years, "The Red Cross collection day is a rite of passage for our year 10 students at the school. All students are required to complete 20 or more hours of Community Service… students enjoy interacting with the community and seeking donations. Melbourne High School is very proud to be a part of Red Cross Calling."

Schools, universities and colleges have a long history of supporting Red Cross Calling. Many schools participate by conducting collections at shopping centres and train stations or doorknocking in the local area. Other great and simple fundraising ideas include 'Dress red for Red Cross' day, a fundraising BBQ or a cake stall. We would love to hear about any activities that you may be conducting so please email us with details.

Community groups

Red Cross relies heavily on the generosity of individuals and community groups to raise vital funds for our everyday work.

Community groups across the country can get involved throughout March by conducting a collection or organising a fundraising activity. A doorknock of your local area or a coin collection in a shopping centre, at an intersection (VIC only) or in the CBD can be easy to organise. The Red Cross Calling team can help you obtain permission and provide you with all the equipment and materials you need. Fundraising activities can be as simple as a cake stall, morning tea or sausage sizzle, so get everyone together and put some 'fun' into fundraising!

At work

Red Cross Calling provides workplaces with an opportunity to engage with the community and raise awareness of the issues affecting vulnerable people.

Workplaces can get involved any time throughout March by conducting a collection or organising a fundraising activity. Coin collections at train stations or in the workplace do not require a lot of time or effort and can be very effective. Staff BBQs or morning teas are also a great opportunity to get everyone together and have some fun while raising much needed funds.
